10 Raunchiest Rap Music Videos Of All Time
In the world of rap, “raunchy music video” is almost always code for “ass-shaking fiesta.” Thus, when narrowing down this list from 30+ videos to 10, I was forced to take multiple criteria into consideration. Is the song any good? Was it popular?
10 Surprising Credits On Kanye West's "The Life Of Pablo"
Kanye West's The Life of Pablo has finally arrived, and it's about as good as anyone could've expected. Agitated fans are starting to forgive Kanye for his ridiculous antics throughout the convoluted and unpredictable album rollout. The anticipation really started to build three weeks ago, when Kanye shared the first copy of a handwritten tracklist for his upcoming album, then-titled SWISH. There were 10 tracks listed, and at the bottom of the page appeared the words "KYLIE WAS HERE."
50 Cent Takes Jab At Floyd Mayweather On Instagram
Floyd Mayweather has had his share of beefs with hip-hop artists over the past few years (including a major riff with T.I. over the past few weeks), but perhaps no battle has lasted as long as that between him and G-Unit head honcho 50 Cent.
The Hottest Nicki Minaj GIFS From Nelly's "Get Like Me" Video
Nelly has been teasing fans with the visual for his single "Get Like Me" for awhile now, and he was finally ready to release the Colin Tilley-directed video to the world yesterday. And it appears the world enjoyed it.
Allen Iverson Explains He'd "Been Drinking" When He Lost To Nelly In H.O.R.S.E.
Allen Iverson, or the Answer, was a scoring point guard unlike anything the league has seen before or after his time in the NBA. That’s why we’ve always been incredulous about Nelly’s claims that he beat AI in a game of H.O.R.S.E. back in the day. However, in a recent interview with Complex, Iverson copped to the claims and admitted it really happened:
Nelly Arrested On Felony Drug Charges In Tennessee
Nelly was arrested Saturday morning on charges of felony possession of drugs, simple possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Nelly Defends Drake's Singing
Nelly is sometimes overlooked as an early adopter of melodic rapping. The St. Louis rapper rarely spit a verse that didn't have a tune to it in his heyday, and later went even further into a singing direction with country crossover songs and the like. Drake, who also has a tendency to sing as much as he raps, is criticized by purists for not sticking entirely to hip hop. In a recent interview with VladTV, Nelly came to the defense of Drake's direction.
Nelly Addresses Floyd Mayweather Conflict
Earlier this week, we reported that 50 Cent took an Instagram jab at Floyd Mayweather with regard to Nelly stealing the boxer's ex-girlfriend. Now, Nelly himself has come forth regarding the issue, denying beef but still offering a few choice words for Mayweather regarding the boxer's intelligence.
Nelly's "Country Grammar" Certified Diamond
A big shoutout to Nelly, whose debut album Country Grammar was certified DIAMOND (10 million records sold) by the RIAA as of July 21, 2016. RIAA awarded Nelly his diamond plaque Monday night at a Musicians On Call event in Philadelphia. Released in 2000, Country Grammar becomes only the ninth album in hip hop history to be certified diamond. Here are the other eight:
Nelly Avoids Felony Drugs Charge
A felony drugs charge against Nelly has been dismissed.
Nelly To Star In Reality Show Called "Nelly Ville"
What's this, a reissue of Nellyville? Unfortunately no, there's no news of a reissue of or sequel to Nelly's 2002 album (the 14th best selling rap release of all time), but it is the name of an upcoming reality series that the St. Louis MC will be starring in.
Nelly And T.I. Speak On Ferguson Situation, Start Scholarship In Michael Brown's Name
The city of Ferguson, Missouri has been in the news all week due to events stemming from the shooting of unarmed teenager Michael Brown by a police officer. With St. Louis just about a 20 minute drive away, many people expected hometown hero Nelly to speak up in the days following the shooting, and finally, he has.
A History Of Jewelry In Hip-Hop
The influence of jewelry on hip hop is as clear as an E-class diamond. But did you know the origins of extravagant jewelry predate hip-hop by several thousand years? African king Mansa Musa (the richest person in human history) was rather fond of gold. At the time of his death in 1337 he was worth a staggering $400 billion dollars. That’s six times the net worth of Warren Buffet. During his reign West Africa controlled over 50% of the world's gold so, as you can imagine, he wore his fair share of it.
Nelly Hosts Kidnapping Victim Amanda Berry's First Public Appearance
After being held captive for ten years in Ariel Castro's Cleveland home, Amanda Berry was freed earlier this year, and has now made her very first public appearance, at a Nelly concert strangely enough. The St. Louis rapper brought Berry onstage, honoring the 27-year-old's bravery and perseverance through her horrible conditions. “I wanna make sure we get a chance to thank you cause I know it’s a long time,” Nelly told Berry. “I can’t even imagine the type of courage and strength it took to keep it going so, I commend you and thank you.”
Nelly Is Putting Out A Country Project
From his very first single, Nelly established his "Country Grammar," but it wasn't until a few albums later that he really started to experiment with country music. "Over and Over" -- Nelly's collaboration with Tim McGraw -- may have been a divisive record, but it certainly didn't hurt its chart presence, making it what might've been the first country/rap crossover hit that wasn't recorded by Kid Rock.
Nelly Apologizes For Felony Drug Arrest
Last week, Nelly's bus was pulled over near Chattanooga, TN for failing to display necessary stickers. The cops smelled weed, searched the bus, found the weed--as well as some more contraband--namely, several guns, and a plastic bag full of rocks that would test positive for meth. Nelly was taken to the county jail and released shortly thereafter, though the St. Louis rapper is now faced with a felony charge. Today, Nelly spoke on the charges for the first time, and issued an apology--well, sort of--he mostly eschews all blame entirely.
FDT: 10 Rap References To Donald Trump
Donald Trump might be one of the most hated men in hip hop culture, but it wasn't always that way. Before he was touting a racist agenda, Trump was a symbol of success. With a crap ton of money and an entrepreneurial spirit, it's no wonder why Donald Trump was the subject of tracks by Gucci Mane, Mac Miller and Rae Sremmurd.
Nelly Performs In Iraq To Raise Money For The War Against ISIS
While we haven't heard any new music from Nelly since 2013, the St. Louis rapper's latest live performance took him where no other rapper--or American artist--has gone before. Nelly recently traveled to northern Iraq to perform in Erbil, becoming the first American artist to ever perform in the city. The concert was part of an event put on to raise money for the "peshmerga," the Kurdish military force that's been fighting the terrorist group ISIS in northern Iraq. The event, which included motocross and soccer, reportedly drew 15,000 people.
10 Rapper-Hosted Reality Shows We'd Like To See
Over the 20 or so years they've coexisted, rappers and reality TV have had a pretty great relationship. "Flavor of Love" is still one of the most popular reality programs of all-time, more people know Xzibit for "Pimp My Ride" than his appearances on Dr. Dre's 2001 (and even less for his solo music), and even short-lived flops like Three 6 Mafia's "Adventures In Hollyhood" still attracted cult followings.
