Waka Flocka Responds To Gucci Mane Saying They Haven't Spoken In 3 Years
Earlier this week, during an interview with HOT 97, Gucci Mane said that he hasn't spoken to Waka Flocka in three years, presumably not having contacted his former protégé since before getting locked up in September 2013, remaining in prison until May of this year.
Staff Picks Playlist (September 23)
It's late afternoon on the first Friday of the fall season, a few hours away from turn-up o'clock. Time to sink one's teeth into all the new bangers that've dropped over the past week. There are many on Ty Dolla $ign's new album, Campaign, which touched down last night, along with new projects from T.I., Mick Jenkins, and Audio Push.
20 Legendary Rapper Yearbook Photos
As cool as rappers may seem to you now, there was a time when your favorite spitter was in high school, and as dope as they may have seen themselves, we're certain that each one of them dealt with some serious haters. We're gonna take you on a tour of 20 rapper yearbook photos, an expansion of our previous list.
Gucci Mane Is Off House Arrest
Gucci Mane has already released an album and a number of features since being released from prison in May, but all the while, he's been confined to his home in Atlanta under house arrest (give or take some approved concert appearances). Today, Gucci revealed that he's done his time in the house, cutting off his ankle monitor in a video posted to Instagram. "The Wop is a free man!!" he wrote.
Gucci Mane Reveals Album Cover, Release Date, & Tracklist For "Woptober"
Gucci Mane warned us earlier that he had a big announcement tonight, and now we know that is. At the stroke of midnight, Guwop’s recently announced Woptober album was just made available for pre-order on iTunes, ultimately unveiling the artwork, release date, & tracklist for it in the process.
35 More Artists To Follow On Snapchat
In terms of an artist gaining direct access to his or her fans, there's no better social media platform than Snapchat. Indeed, the app has caused artists to blur the line between their public and private personas.
Meet Dreezy: The New Queen of Chicago's Southside & Beyond
In the sprawling Chicago hip hop scene of today, perhaps no rapper has more artistic range than 22-year-old Dreezy. She first began to grow a significant following after she released her incomparable "Chiraq" remix in spring 2014. It's hard to believe that that song, in which she snarls like a wolverine, was made by the same person who would release the gentle R&B-pop hybrid "Body" with Jeremih 21 months later.
Gucci Mane Says He's Recorded Verses For Outkast, Lil Wayne & More
UPDATE: An Andre 3000 rep has announced that there is currently "no Outkast news to report," The Fader reports. ______________________________________
Top Tracks: August 29 - September 4
The week before Labor Day brought us some nice late summer treats in the form of Travis Scott's Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight, Isaiah Rashad's The Sun's Tirade, and Fabolous' Summertime Shootout 2. Of those, Scott's album was definitely the most feverishly anticipated, thanks to some delays as well as his substantial fanbase, and that popularity shows in this week's edition of Top Tracks. Scott leads the pack with three appearances, but oddly enough, none as a lead artist.
Gucci Mane Announces New Album "Woptober"
Over the past few weeks, Gucci Mane has been promoting something called #Woptober on his social media accounts, and now we officially know what it is. As expected, Woptober is the title to Gucci Mane’s next album, the follow up to this Summer’s Everybody Looking album, which featured Kanye West, Drake & Young Thug.
The Best Hip Hop Songs (On Spotify) Of August 2016
Earlier this year, HNHH launched a Spotify playlist called FIRE EMOJI: The Hottest Hip Hop Songs Right Now. The playlist is updated on a daily basis. It lives on Spotify and thus is inherently imperfect, because not all super-hot hip hop songs have been added to Spotify. Still, the playlist is generally representative of the best new releases in hip hop and R&B.
Top Tracks: August 21 - August 28
Can we finally breathe a sign of relief after what's proven to be a crazy August?
A Song-By-Song Guide To Young Thug's "No, My Name Is Jeffery"
Late last night, after a few delays as well as a number of different and increasingly confusing tracklists, 300 Entertainment finally released Young Thug's third project of the year: No, My Name Is Jeffery. Just before, Thug shared what has to be the most memorable album cover of the year, showing him in a floor-length periwinkle dress with his face obscured by an umbrella-like hat that, the likes of which has never before sat on a rapper's head. But with this project, Thug is intent on proving himself to be far more than just a rapper.
Zaytoven Shares Details On Upcoming Drake & Gucci Mane Project
Right around the release of Gucci Mane's first album post-prison, Everybody Looking, the rapper's go-to producer Zaytoven revealed the next project Gucci had his sights on: a joint effort with Drake. Zay has been the main person speaking out on the project thus far, and he continues to shed light on how it transpired in a new interview with Vlad TV.
Charts Don't Lie: August 10
DJ Khaled has plenty of reason to celebrate this week. Khaled earned his first #1 debut with his ninth studio album Major Key-- obviously all that Snapchatting paid off. The record rides high on collaborations with everyone from Jay Z to YG, Kendrick Lamar to Future, although Khaled probably has more than enough star power by himself at this point. Drake follows right behind him with VIEWS, a record that has spent most of the summer at #1.
Gucci Mane Teases "Woptober"
Gucci Mane may have just entered the Billboard 200 with his new album Everybody Looking (debuting at #2, no less), however he's already plotting his next move.
Charts Don't Lie: August 3
Gucci Mane is making his comeback Billboard official this week, coming in at the #2 overall spot with his latest album Everybody Looking, which also has a couple tracks debuting on the Hot 100. Gucci's efforts aren't quite enough to displace Drake from the #1 spot, however, as he takes the crown for the 12th week with VIEWS. Rihanna and Beyonce maintain positions within the top 10, and ScHoolboy Q's Blank Face slips down the charts after a strong debut.
Rae Sremmurd Shares The Updated Tracklist For "SremmLife 2"
Rae Sremmurd's sophomore album, SremmLife 2, has suffered some delays, but the changes made to the album are worth the wait. The iTunes pre-order has been updated with two new tracks, the hypnotic summer jam, "#DoYoga," and the very promising "Black Beatles," featuring a guest appearance from none other than Gucci Mane.
Drake's "VIEWS" Gains Most No. 1 Weeks Since Adele's "21"
Drake's VIEWS, released at the end of April, is still the No. 1 album in the US. The album has earned its 12th nonconsecutive week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. After going No. 1 for its first nine weeks of release, VIEWS briefly gave up the top spot to Blink-182's California three weeks ago. Now back at No.
Gucci Mane Covers The FADER
Gucci Mane follows up the release of Everybody Looking, which is on track to move between 69,000-74,000 copies opening week, with some more promotion.
