    Rap continues to change and grow, coming to a point where songwriting isn't necessarily all about lyrics anymore. French Montana addressed the current state of rap in a recent interview, arguing that lyric-driven rap is not necessarily what people want to hear, saying "All lyrical rappers I know are broke... I just feel like you gotta make people enjoy the music." (Though it should be noted that he was mainly referring to New York rappers who constantly criticize current trends, and pointed toward Jay Z as a good example of someone with a range).

    This week, A$AP Mob got back on track with their upcoming collaborative album by releasing the posse cut "Hella Hoes," which featured verses from A$APs Rocky, Ferg, Nast and Twelvyy. Apparently though, the track wasn't originally supposed to be an exclusively A$AP affair, as Danny Brown is now saying that he recorded a verse for the song.

    Danny Brown represents his home of Detroit to the fullest, so it may not come as a surprise that he gets sensitive when other people try to claim his city. We saw this happen with Big Sean-- who is actually from the D, but Danny didn't think he lived the authentic Detroit experience. Now Miley Cyrus, of all people, is jumping on the Detroit bandwagon, and Danny isn't having any of it.

    This weekend Eminem made history by becoming the very first rapper to headline Wembley stadium. In fact, he performed two sold out dates in a row at the 90,000-capacity venue, and he made sure to bring some friends along for the ride. The biggest news from the show was Dr. Dre's surprise appearance, showing up to perform a medley of hits, including "Still D.R.E.," "Next Episode," "Nuthin’ But A G Thang" and “Forgot About Dre." The stadium show also boasted opening slots from fellow Detroit rapper, Danny Brown, and students of Em's early horrorcore records, Odd Future.

Gone are the days where it was nearly impossible to create music without musicians being in the same studio at the same time. Now artists and producers are able to collaborate despite being in different parts of the country, or even across the globe. One can simply email over a verse or an instrumental that can be worked with, and tweaked, into a musical masterpiece. This makes any collaboration possible and has resulted in some incredible creations recently.
