A new beef between Meek Mill & Joe Budden is good ammo for those who lament that rap beefs only take place on social media. Here's what happened. Last year, Budden criticized Meek's music on his podcast last year. "Meek's music is too hard for me to look at him with this fucking sappy fuck shit" he said.

Yet another inspiring young artist has been taken too soon. Yesterday (June 25) at around 7PM, 23-year-old Tyriece Watson, aka Lor Scoota, was fatally shot while driving in his hometown of Baltimore. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:30PM. Just minutes before the shooting, Scoota had been at Morgan State University, where he hosted a charity basketball event called "Touch the People: Pray for Peace In These Streets."

Meek Mill has finally been let out of the house, and it's now time for him to start flooding the streets. It's not that his name has been absent from the game; he's managed to stay in the rotation with his "All the Way Up" remix with Fab and Jada, and earlier this month, he teamed with labelmates Wale and Rozay for "Make It Work," the latest single off MMG's upcoming Self Made 4 compilation.

Let's face it, as far as high-profile tracks go, there's no way this week (or any week really) could have lived up to the seven days that preceded it. Drake, Kanye, Jay Z, Justin Bieber, Gucci Mane, Travi$ Scott, and Pusha T all joined forces with some combination of one another to make for the craziest batch of tracks we've seen in such a short span this year.

MMG's Self Made series was on an annual release schedule for its first three installments, but with Self Made 3 dropping in 2013, it's been a while since we've received a group project from the label. That should be changing soon, as Rick Ross has announced that a new single from the upcoming Self Made Vol. 4 is arriving later today, and will feature the label's three biggest stars; Meek Mill, Wale, and Ross himself.

Summer Jam wasn't the only big show that went down last night. Not too far away, Beyonce's "Formation" tour touched down in Philadelphia, and her official opener, DJ Khaled, had a few surprises in store, as he brought out Rick Ross as well as the hometown hero Meek Mill, performing for the first time since he was put on house arrest in early February.
#TBT: Mixtape Meek Mill
#TBT: Mixtape Meek Mill Jun 2, 2016 at 10:33am
It's difficult now to believe that not long ago, Meek Mil was one of the most respected emcees in the game. His bravado and unrelenting ferocity on the mic have been evident since the mid-aughts, when he was a raw talent rapping and selling drugs at the same time in North Philly (see below). Meek earned his stripes with vaunted Flamers mixtape series and shaved his braids around the time he signed his deal with Maybach Music Group in 2011. It wasn't a Samson scenario; he didn't lose his powers. If anything, he was better than ever.
Meek Mill's House Arrest Extended
Meek Mill's House Arrest Extended Jun 2, 2016 at 05:13am
Back in February, Meek Mill was sentenced to serve 3-months on house arrest after violating his parole last year. That sentence would start on March 1 and was supposed to end yesterday (June 1), but unfortunately for the MMG rapper that wouldn't be the case.

Troy Ave has been denied bail for his attempted murder and weapon charges, and some fellow artists have been showing the rapper support on social media. Following Meek Mill's words on the subject, 50 Cent has also offered some advice to Troy, posting a photo of the New York emcee being

Happy Memorial Day. The past week has been a wild one, what with the chaos at T.I.’s NYC show, Gucci Mane’s release from prison, and a new Kevin Gates tape. Summer’s officially here, so expect things to keep picking up in the rap game— we’ve got a ScHoolboy Q album, SremmLife 2, and a bunch of other heat on the way. On the top tracks side of things, there was quite a bit of turnover in our list this week, with only the bottom and top tracks from the last edition making return appearances.

Perhaps this week's playlist won't be as useful as usual, as most rap fans will likely have GuWop on repeat all weekend in celebration of the Trap God's surprise release from prison yesterday. He had been locked up for three years, and unsurprisingly, he recorded a track on his first day out, aptly titled "First Day Out Tha Feds," produced by his reliable longtime collaborator Mike Will Made-It.
A Recent History Of The Post-Prison Comeback Track
A Recent History Of The Post-Prison Comeback Track May 27, 2016 at 08:38pm
Yesterday was a truly bizarre day in hip-hop. It started with news of a shooting at a T.I. concert the night before in New York, and reports soon connected to the incident to Troy Ave, as the NYPD caught footage of the Brooklyn rapper opening fire in a VIP green room. That footage was released to the public, and Troy has since been arrested on charges of attempted murder, among others. Ultimately, though, it was a joyous day, made possible by the surprise return of Gucci Mane, who had been locked up in an Indiana penitentiary for almost three years.

Meek Mill Wins Top Rap Album At Billboard Music Awards, Drake Is Top Rap Artist May 23, 2016 at 12:01am
Another week, another award show. Tonight it was the 2016 Billboard Music Awards in Vegas, and of course, the majority of the nominations went to major artists who have spent a good deal of time in the Hot 100 singles chart and/or the Billboard 200 albums chart over the past year. Though a relatively small group of hip-hop artists were represented at this year's show, there were still a few surprise award-winners. The most unexpected result came in the category of Top Rap Album, as the award was given to Meek Mill's Dreams Worth More Than Money.
