While many Lil Baby fans are happy with the new album "FRESH," its commercial performance isn't stacking up to previous releases.

Lil Baby recently took to social media to clap back at negative comments about his new album FRESH. Sadly, with how the Internet tends to discuss commercial performance, he will probably have to deal with more of those. According to Kurrco on Twitter, the project received around 6.1 million streams on Spotify in its first full day of release.

The track-by-track breakdown reveals an average of around 356K Spotify streams per song. As of writing this article, excluding the previously released "Dead Fresh" single, "Mr. Do Something" is the tracklist's best performer so far with 882K streams, followed by the Rylo Rodriguez, Future, and Young Thug-assisted track "All My Partnas" with 571K.

Furthermore, this first-day performance for the full-length as a whole is a step down when compared to the Atlanta star's previous efforts. 2025's WHAM secured 16 million streams on Spotify in its first day, whereas 2022's It's Only Me earned 23.6 million. Those projects went number one on Billboard, and we'll see if FRESH catches up and reaches similar heights.

Although this performance may be disappointing to some fans and prime food for haters to indulge in, it's not the end of the world. What goes up must come down, and basing conversations only on numbers won't lead you anyplace useful. For Baby, what he must focus on is how he's connecting artistically with his audience, and whether or not he can prove himself to higher standards and a more evolved direction.

However, other commercial metrics like FRESH's heavy presence at the top of Apple Music's United States chart show the album is experiencing plenty of success. As such, no success or failure can outweigh the other; only time will tell if the album is truly resonant and if Wham fans ride for it.

Lil Baby split his fanbase with FRESH, which is a better outcome than the mostly disappointed reactions to his previous effort, WHAM. That's not even mentioning The Leak$, which was more for the die-hards than anything.

Still, Lil Baby wants to prove he hasn't "fallen off," and more momentum leading to success on the Billboard charts could indicate that. Maybe we get a late-performing hit and more time makes the narrative around FRESH flip completely. But for now, it seems like he will have to go back to the drawing board.
