Lil Baby is tired of the "washed" allegations, and despite many fans loving his new album "FRESH," he still feels attacked by haters.

Lil Baby caused a lot of split fan reactions when he dropped his new album FRESH this week. While many die-hards and casuals really enjoyed the project, there's still a lot of criticism coming its way. It turns out he's tired of the narratives against him, as he recently responded to a fan on Instagram who dropped a negative assessment of the new LP.

A user who goes by @vcash_br on IG posted a short, first-two-listens review of FRESH. He didn't even call it a bad album, but said it feels "Kidz Bop."

"That motherf***er Kidz Bop as hell," the listener remarked. "I get what direction you trying to go to. Radio bangers, a lot of s**t that can get played in H&M and stores. I get the longevity of what you're trying to do... The s**t ain't for the streets... I'm aight with that, I get it. I'ma listen to it one more time. It ain't even a bad album. This motherf***er just Kidz Boppy as hell..."

"Sybau," the Atlanta MC wrote in the replies. "damn u mad at ah n***a TikTok mixtape making a** n***a," @vcash_br replied. He also followed this up with a satirical video on Instagram.

"This morning, I had a chance to listen to Lil Baby's album again. Greatest album I ever heard in my life..." the listener expressed. "Lil Wayne who? Tupac who? Jay-Z who? [...] And nah, I ain't just saying this s**t 'cause some Magic City strippers threatened me this morning... N***a fanbase different... You got it, tiger... This the first time in my life I got threatened by some strippers... Aye, Baby, don't call me no b***h, though. In front of all these h*es and s**t..."

Lil Baby's New Album's Reviews

This review joins others that are more critical of FRESH. But in comparison to his other 2020s work, it seems like reception is more positive overall.

Lil Baby is tired of the "washed" allegations, with him recently claiming he gets far more hate than MCs who actually fell off. Whether that has to do with Baby's shifting hip-hop relationships or the quality of his music, at least fans and haters alike can agree that this was a pretty comical interaction.

Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Gabriel treasures the crossover between his native reggaetón and hip-hop news coverage, such as his review for Bad Bunny’s hometown concert in 2024. But more specifically, he digs for the deeper side of hip-hop conversations, whether that’s the “death” of the genre in 2023, the lyrical and parasocial intricacies of the Kendrick Lamar and Drake battle, or the many moving parts of the Young Thug and YSL RICO case. Beyond engaging and breaking news coverage, Gabriel makes the most out of his concert obsessions, reviewing and recapping festivals like Rolling Loud Miami and Camp Flog Gnaw. He’s also developed a strong editorial voice through album reviews, think-pieces, and interviews with some of the genre’s brightest upstarts and most enduring obscured gems like Homeboy Sandman, Bktherula, Bas, and Devin Malik.
