    Apr 28, 2014 at 07:56pm
Album or not, DJ Mustard is more than set up to take over the summer. Building his catalog of hits every day, Mustard already loaded YG with a stack of bangers for his album, My Krazy Life, and his collaborations with Tinashe, Kid Ink, and Jennifer Lopez continue to gain momentum. Still, Mustard will be releasing a full length project this summer, and it now has an official title. Sticking with the theme of the warmer months, the debut project from teh DJ will be titled 10 Summers.

YG has seen plenty of success with his debut album My Krazy Life, and some of this success is due to the catchy, new West Coast sound provided by YG's partner in crime, DJ Mustard. Mustard handled the majority, although not all, of the production on My Krazy Life, and the two have definitely evolved together as a rapper/producer duo over the years. Now that they're in the spotlight, many are wondering what they'll do next. It looks like the next move, perhaps unsurprisingly, will be to launch their own record label.

    Charts Don’t Lie: April 20

This week on the charts we see a new entry with Top Dawg's lady SZA, who made a strong debut considering it's her first release on the label/first release for sale. Similar to Isaiah Rashad's Cilvia Demo, which debuted at #40, SZA's Z debuted at #39 by moving 7,000 units. This proves the strength of the TDE fan base and the support they have for the label, no matter the artist and style of that artist. Pharrell continues to show strength on the Billboard 200, showing us that he's in this for the long haul.

This week we have a new entry on Charts Don't Lie, with Mobb Deep's new album The Infamous Mobb Deep, celebrating their 20-year anniversary since The Infamous. Their sales are not huge mainstream numbers, but obviously loyal hip-hop heads came through for Havoc and Prodigy as they clock in at #49. We continue to see Jhene Aiko's Sail Out hold on to a spot on the Billboard 200, not too high and not too low, at the mid-40s. She actually finds herself above Drake's NWTS this week, which may come as a surprise.

This week we don't have many new entries to speak of, save for Sage The Gemini's Remember Me. Depending on the numbers Smoke DZA's new album Dream.ZONE.Achieve did, we may or may not see it pop up on Charts Don't Lie next week, though. This week remains fairly unexciting, as Pharrell manages to climb up the charts while Rick Ross descends, and Pharrell picks up pace sales-wise too.

DJ Mustard's sound is more present than ever these days. While we're now hearing various types of artists take on the signature west coast snap the DJ is known for, YG is definitely one of the first to take on the style.  In a recent Funkmaster Flex freestyle, it was speculated that YG was taking shots at Tyga-- who made a lot of noise with his "Rack City" single, which happened to be produced by Mustard --as well as fellow west coast rapper Problem.

YG first popped up on the radar with the 2009 song "Toot It And Boot It" featuring Ty Dolla $ign. While he was locked up serving a six-month sentence for a parole violation stemming from a home invasion, the Compton native saw the song steadily climb the Billboard charts. Once YG was released, he had several label options, eventually signing with Def Jam. As fans awaited his debut album, he began releasing mixtape after mixtape.
