Thanksgiving weekend is only a few weeks away, and the Detroit Lions have a special performance from the Wu-Tang Clan readied for game day. The Wu-Tang Clan will be performing at the 87th annual Thanksgiving Day Classic on Nov. 26th when the Lions face off against the Chicago Bears.
Wu-Tang was hand-chosen by Eminem and Paul Rosenberg, who struck a multi-year partnership with the team. Both Em and Rosenberg will serve as executive producers of the halftime show.
“We often like to do things that are both exciting and unexpected. A Wu-Tang Clan Thanksgiving performance in Detroit certainly fits that description!" said Rosenberg. "Both Eminem and myself have been Wu fans since the early 90's along with a whole generation of Detroit football fans, and we are honored to bring them to this year's stage."
Wu-Tang Clan Holds Down Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Day Classic Halftime Show
The performance will see all of the living members reunite on stage together, including RZA, GZA, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, U-God, Masta Killa, Inspectah Deck, and Cappadonna. We could imagine that Young Dirty Bastard will also join the original members on stage, as he’s been performing his father ODB’s parts with them across the Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber tour.
It’s a significant milestone for Wu-Tang Clan, as well, especially as they bring their farewell tour, Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber, to a close. Just before the Halftime Show, they will be formally inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame as part of the class of 2026 alongside Sade and Luther Vandross. They’ve also called for Barack Obama to induct them.
Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first Halftime Show they’ve performed at this year. When the Knicks made it to the NBA Finals, the Wu-Tang Clan came through to bless Madison Square Garden with a performance of their biggest hits.
