Jay-Z has been having a massive 2026 so far, with various concerts and anniversary celebrations for his classic albums dominating many hip-hop conversations. But there's also a lot of controversy, debate, and speculation attached, such as recent unverified rumors that Roc Nation and its mogul have been struggling to book a Super Bowl halftime show headliner for 2027. On the most recent episode of It Is What It Is, though, Cam'ron and Mase had a good laugh because they believe all of this is "cap," and that Hov is actually setting himself up to be the halftime performer.
"Come on, now," Cam remarked amid lots of laughs, as caught by Killa on Twitter. "So out of all the artists in the world... The year that you got your masters back from Reasonable Doubt, the year you sell out Yankee Stadium three nights in a row, they year that you in Paris and Europe and all these places doing tours right now, nobody can find time for the NFL? 'I just might have to do it myself... what I'ma do.' Come on, Jay. We can see you... Just say you've been lining this up for three-and-a-half years...
"And I'm not knocking it. 'Cause that's what I would do too..." he continued. "You having trouble finding talent for the Super Bowl? Send the email out... This has been planned for three years... If Jay-Z does the Super Bowl, to me it's gon' be fire... You bring out Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé, Rihanna. Jay-Z has songs with the best of the best... It wouldn't even be enough for everybody to perform... It would be a phenomenal show. But don't say you having trouble finding talent."
Cam'ron On Jay-Z
To be clear, these rumors did not come directly from Hov or Roc Nation. Rather, they emerged in a Daily Mail article with information from an alleged source close to Jay and the NFL. So the veracity of the struggle itself is still up in the air. We'll see what else we learn or how folks react when they announce a performer soon.
Elsewhere, Cam'ron and Mase had other Jay-Z-related comments on It Is What It Is, specifically about Colin Kaepernick. They reacted to the former NFL player's book tour for his The Perilous Fight memoir, arguing he's trying to play both sides by still wanting to be in the league despite calling Hov out and protesting.
Cam'ron's past comments on Jay-Z suggest some friction and disagreement, but nothing in a truly beef-heavy sense. They have a complicated history from the Roc-A-Fella days, but it's all relatively smoothed out.
