The sports talk show It Is What It Is sees Cam'ron and Mase talk about the most buzzing and divisive topics in the athletic world today. These days, there have been a lot of conversations about Colin Kaepernick thanks to his book tour for his The Perilous Fight memoir. In his reflections on protesting racial injustice and how this led to his exit from the NFL, he revealed he still trains and wants to be a part of a team, which the rappers and commentators find odd.
"After you disrespect me publicly, we're not going back on that," Mase remarked, as caught by Killa on Twitter. "When it comes to business as an employee, that's not going to happen again... When he took a stance, he took a stance for something that was bigger than football. And when you take that stance... You got to be okay with whatever it costs you... That's the purpose of being an advocate or an activist... He didn't calculate it... And there's no way to backtrack the stance that you've taken..."
Cam'ron & Mase On Colin Kaepernick
"I don't know what the new issue is [between Jay-Z and Kaepernick]," Cam added. "I don't know the freestyle, I didn't keep up with it. Because I know Jay-Z is Jay-Z. Colin Kaepernick is Colin Kaepernick. I'm pretty sure Colin Kaepernick, he got that nice settlement when he left, 20, 30 million dollars. Because of the whole lawsuit, I don't remember how it happened... The situation when he took the knee and everything... They give him a chance to come back to the NFL... He says, 'I want my receivers, and so we gon' do it at the high school.' [...] 'That n***a bat-s**t crazy...' I'm not saying that about him. I'm just saying that's what they're saying. You have to follow protocol... It's just the way it goes... I think they did that to be like, 'Let's cover our a** so they don't say we didn't give the n***a another shot.'"
Colin Kaepernick has also gone at Jay-Z amid all this, even claiming Roc Nation tried to plant hit pieces about him. For those unaware, that conflict is because of Hov and the Roc's deal with the NFL following Kaepernick's protests.
