An old conversation about whether anyone had “slid for Von” could become part of the government’s case against Lil Durk. According to a courtroom update reposted by DJ Akademiks, federal prosecutors want jurors to hear portions of an Off the Record interview in which 6ix9ine and Wack 100 mocked Durk over the lack of apparent retaliation following King Von’s death.
"Feds wanna introduce a interview on Dj Akademiks Off the record podcast with 6ix9ine and wack 100 where they attacked Durk for not 'sliding for von,'" Akademiks wrote on X. "According to the government they got a snitch who will testify that Durk saw the interview and it made him upset that it was being discussed that there was no 'sliding' done. Durk lawyers has contested the video being included claiming it isn’t relevant."
The government’s interest is not simply that Durk was mentioned during a podcast. Prosecutors reportedly have a cooperating witness prepared to testify that Durk saw the interview and became upset by the discussion. They appear to want the clip as evidence supporting their theory that public pressure over Von’s killing affected Durk before the 2022 Los Angeles shooting at the center of his murder-for-hire case.

Durk Chatted With Akademiks
The “slide for Von” taunts followed Durk for years after Von was fatally shot in Atlanta in November 2020. 6ix9ine was among the most persistent people using Von’s death to antagonize him publicly. Durk eventually addressed the trolling himself during a separate conversation with Akademiks. When asked about people telling him to “slide for Von,” he noted that he no longer saw the comments as often and acknowledged that the phrase had become something people used to provoke him online. Prosecutors now appear interested in establishing that the pressure was not merely internet noise to him.
The government alleges Durk later financed an effort to kill Quando Rondo, whose associate Timothy “Lul Tim” Leeks was charged in Von’s fatal shooting before the case was ultimately dismissed. Federal prosecutors say members of Durk’s Only the Family circle traveled to Los Angeles in August 2022 after learning Rondo was there. Gunmen allegedly opened fire on Rondo’s vehicle near the Beverly Center, killing his cousin Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson. Durk has pleaded not guilty and denies arranging the attack.

The podcast dispute also fits into a broader fight over how much of Durk’s public persona prosecutors will be allowed to bring before jurors. A judge has already ruled that the government can introduce the video and lyrics for Durk’s 2021 song “Pissed Me Off.” Prosecutors contend that portions of the record demonstrate retaliatory intent following Von’s death, while the defense argues the song is being stripped of its proper context.
The proposed Akademiks evidence would take that argument beyond Durk’s own music. If admitted, prosecutors would ask jurors to consider whether comments about him made by 6ix9ine and Wack 100 had any bearing on what happened later. The cooperating witness would apparently provide the connection by claiming Durk saw the discussion and reacted to it.
