Gervonta Davis offered an unflattering opinion of Claressa Shields' red carpet look, but she wasn't about to let him have the last word.

Nobody asked Gervonta Davis for a fashion review, but the boxing star offered one anyway. Claressa Shields found herself the subject of jokes after clips of her posing in a revealing outfit circulated online, and Davis apparently wasn't impressed. However, Shields had a few words for her fellow boxer, along with a reminder that she has new music to promote.

The footage was captured at Shields' Nov. 2 listening party in Atlanta, where she stepped onto the red carpet wearing a fitted black outfit featuring lace-up detailing across her exposed back. She paired the look with red thigh-high boots, turning around to give photographers a better view of the design. The clips quickly circulated on social media, drawing criticism and jokes about her wardrobe. Davis joined in, commenting, "You look a hot ass mess."

Shields wasn't about to let the insult slide. Sharing his remark on X, she fired back, "Keep streaming Party 🤣🗣️🤩," before directing followers to her new single on Apple Music. She then took a considerably more personal shot at Davis, writing, "Ain't nobody thinking about that woman beating M*dget Tank 🤣." Her response referenced the domestic violence allegations that have followed Davis, who has faced multiple legal complaints involving women over the years.

Claressa Shields Turns Gervonta Davis' Insult Into Music Promotion

Davis has faced criminal charges and civil allegations involving domestic violence, including accusations from former girlfriend Courtney Rossel. She alleged that he physically attacked her during an October 2025 incident at a Miami Gardens nightclub. Davis has denied the allegations, and his attorneys previously accused Rossel of attempting to extort him. Shields' insult alluded to that history, although her characterization shouldn't be confused with a finding of guilt in those proceedings.

The exchange also arrived during a busy week for Shields, who has been introducing herself to audiences as a recording artist. Her Atlanta event, titled "Gloves Off, Mic On," celebrated the release of "Party" and offered attendees a preview of her forthcoming album, What Did You Expect. The event attracted more than 500 guests, including her boyfriend, Papoose, who joined her onstage. Complex detailed the listening party, where Shields previewed nine tracks from the project.

The undefeated champion appeared pleased with the turnout, thanking Rolling Out and the guests who supported her event. She also announced that more music would arrive next week.
