Cardi B opened her Little Miss Drama Tour last night, but it didn't go out with some controversy. The Grammy-winning rapper not only dissed BIA (again) but also delivered a pointed a message toward ICE. The Bronx native, who is of Afro-Caribbean descent, has been one of many musicians outspoken against Donald Trump's usage of it.
Before jumping into her performance of her Bad Bunny and J. Balvin collab, "I Like It," Cardi B warned the DHS agency to leave them alone. "B*tch! If ICE come in here, we gon’ jump they a*ses. I’ve got some bear mace in the back! They ain’t taking my fans, b*tch."
Cardi wasn't super serious in her delivery, but there's no doubt that she didn't totally not mean what she said. Well, Homeland Security caught wind of the "Up" songwriter's threats and they decided to clap back.
However, as TMZ reports, it's maybe even more ruthless than Cardi's message on stage. The outlet discovered Homeland Security's tweet and in it, contains a damning clap back. "As long as she doesn’t drug and rob our agents, we’ll consider that an improvement over her past behavior," they write.
If you are a little perplexed, their post is a reference to Cardi B's past as a stripper.
What Has Cardi B Said About ICE?
On the surface, working as one isn't really an insult. However, it's how Cardi B went about her business during her time as a dancer.
In 2019, an old clip came back to light wherein she admitted to bringing clients to hotels to "drug them up" and then rob them.
She pushed back against the viral video but would eventually come clean and apologize for her past transgressions.
"Whether or not they were poor choices at the time, I did what I had to do to survive," she wrote back at the time... I made the choices that I did at the time because I had very limited options." She also added in part, "I never glorified the things I brought up in that live [video], I never even put those things in my music because I'm not proud of it and feel a responsibility not to glorify it."
But this response from the DHS isn't going to stop Cardi B. She's repeatedly denounced ICE and Trump, with her most recent comments surfacing around the Super Bowl. Ahead of Bad Bunny's performance, she praised his anti-ICE stance. "I'm actually very, very proud of everything he's been standing up for, against ICE and everything. I feel like everything is aligned and shows how Hispanics, Latinos, whatever you want to call us, you know everybody got different terms... We're all standing motherf*cking strong, okay?"
