Fans got a preview of Usher's take on "I'm Spent," but it's unclear whether Drake and Loe Shimmy plan to release the remix.

Drake and Loe Shimmy's "I'm Spent" might be getting the Usher treatment. The R&B veteran surprised viewers during an Instagram Live session on Monday (Nov. 2), playing a remix of the popular collaboration with his own vocals added. He seemed pretty pleased with the results, too, singing along as he gave followers a taste of what he'd been recording.

"Somebody needs to call Loe Shimmy and Drake!" Usher declared during the livestream, which has since circulated across social media. The remix brings a smoother R&B approach to the original, which appeared on Drake's HABIBTI album in May. He also worked a little bragging into his verse, singing, "Got so many hits I damn near almost forget." Per Billboard, the record appears to be going by "U Spent," although Usher hasn't announced an official release date.

Usher And Drake Have Teased A Collaboration Before

An official release would be particularly interesting considering that Usher and Drake have never put out a formal collaboration, despite knowing each other for more than a decade. Drake brought the singer out during OVO Fest in 2014 and suggested they had music in the works. A rumored collaboration called "Slow Motion" eventually leaked in 2020, but neither artist included it on an official project. Usher also appeared during Drake and Future's Summer Sixteen Tour in Atlanta in 2016.

The original "I'm Spent" has already marked a major career milestone for Loe Shimmy. The Florida rapper's collaboration with Drake reached No. 34 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming his first Top 40 entry. The pair also filmed an elaborate music video for the song, appearing in Iron Man-inspired costumes during Drake's FOMO short film.

Usher, meanwhile, has been busy performing alongside Chris Brown on their joint R&B Tour. The next stretch begins November 5 in Atlanta, with additional shows scheduled throughout the month. His last studio album, Coming Home, arrived in 2024, and he hasn't confirmed whether he's preparing another project. Still, the studio preview suggests he's been making time for new music between performances.
