Ebro, Laura Stylez, and Peter Rosenberg were the hosts of the morning show on Hot 97 for 13 years. In 2025, they were abruptly let go by the network during a restructuring. It was a controversial decision, although it allowed the trio to go independent with The Ebro Laura Rosenberg Show.
Eventually, the three were replaced by The Kid Mero and Kazeem. There was a brief honeymoon period between the duo and the network, although that seems to be over. Amid another round of layoffs at Hot 97, Mero went on an on-air rant that has been making waves in the hip-hop media space.
Joe Budden even called Mero to talk about it during a recent podcast episode. Now, Ebro, Laura, and Rosenberg are speaking out. During a recent taping of their show, they spoke about Mero and Kazeem's frustrations with the network, and how it mirrors their own.
Ebro went on to say that Hot 97 is owned by venture capital, and that this kind of structure never seems to work out for anybody. He also revealed that when Mero was first hired, he had a call with the comedian to make sure he understood what he was getting into.

It remains to be seen what the fallout is going to be from this saga. Some are suggesting that Mero has fast-tracked his firing from the network. At this time, Hot 97 has not indicated that this is actually the case.
Meanwhile, Mero has made the claim that ratings are higher than ever. Charlamagne Tha God has seemingly attempted to refute that. On the air recently, he said The Breakfast Club was number one in the 18-34 demographic.
Needless to say, this entire situation is getting messy. Only time will tell how this all gets resolved.
