Charlamagne Tha God refutes recent claims that Mornings With Mero had better ratings than The Breakfast Club.

With over 16 years on the air, Charlamagne Tha God isn’t buying into Mero and Kaz’s recent claims that they’ve had the #1 show in New York City on Hot 97. During a recent episode of The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne came through with a bit of a fact check after the Mornings With Mero hosts took shots at the executive offices. Specifically, Kaz stated that Mornings With Mero had “better ratings than our chief competition” in the past three months.

Charlamagne evidently didn’t appreciate this claim, though he expressed nothing but love for everyone who worked on Mornings With Mero.

“New York City has, once again, okay, made Breakfast Club, number one: 18-34, 18-49, and 25-54,” he said. “Salute to my guy Kaz, and salute to Mero. I’m sorry y’all are going through whatever you’re going through over there, but they never beat us.”

Charlamagne said that he’s already had conversations with Kaz and executive producer Jason about the statement. However, he made it clear that they should be coming through with the right numbers if they’re going to go to war with corporate offices. Meanwhile, DJ Envy clarified that the numbers were pulled directly from Nielsen.

Charlamagne Tha God Speaks On Hot 97 Drama

“That’s why I want my guys out there–I don’t know where they got that from, you know, but I don’t want them out there doing that because if you’re going to war with corporate… because corporate got these numbers. So corporate’s sitting back like, ‘when the hell did y’all beat The Breakfast Club?’” he continued.

Mero and Kaz’s comments last week also drew commentary from DJ Akademiks, who said that he would take over Hot 97’s morning show slot if they fire the current hosts and offer him $5M. We’ll keep you posted on any further updates surrounding this situation.
