With recent reports of layoffs at Hot 97, Akademiks suggests taking over “Mornings With Mero.”

Akademiks won’t let his beef with The Kid Mero go. This week, the Hot 97 morning host aired out his issues with the executives of the company, just as reports emerged that a number of employees are facing layoffs. However, Akademiks has a solution for the company as it faces a decline in the media realm: hire him as the morning talent.

During a recent livestream, Ak suggested that he would take over the morning show for an annual salary of $5M if The Kid Mero gets the boot.

“If you have these bums clear out their desk by next week, I’ll come save y’all right after Thanksgiving because I got to eat first,” he said. “Listen, non-negotiable–I want $5 million for the first year.”

Ak explained that he felt that Hot 97 isn’t hiring the right type of talent to maintain their reputation as one of the hottest radio stations in New York City.

“If y’all wanna be saved, I’m giving y’all a one-chance opportunity. Get the trash out and I’ll do it just ‘cause, you know, ain’t y’all motto ‘Where Hip-Hop Lives?’ Well, I know hip-hop lives in my heart,” Ak continued.

“How did Hot 97 go from hiring people like Star and Buckwild–-people who literally if what they were doing was a podcast, then people would pay for it–to having a stiff like [Mero] up there?”

No response from the Kid Mero yet but we could imagine he’ll have quite the response once he catches wind of Akademiks comments. Do you think Akademiks could save Hot 97? Let us know in the comment section below.
