While the new Street Fighter movie has only 42% on Rotten Tomatoes at press time, 50 Cent is much happier focusing on its commercial success. The fighting game adaptation, in which 50 acts and provides music, is leading the box office this weekend with a $51 million opening, per The Wrap. He took to his Instagram page today (Sunday, October 18) to celebrate this debut, throw shade at the Whalefall flick premiering alongside it, and throw in a shot at his frequent enemy Rick Ross for good measure.
"You know damn well I wasn’t gonna be beat by a damn whale movie LOL," the G-Unit mogul wrote, later seemingly referencing his Maybach Music Group counterpart. "Fat boy gonna say bots brought the tickets."
This refers to Rick Ross downplaying 50 Cent's financial success. Most recently, he levied "bot" allegations against the launch of the new G-Unit sneakers, alleging they didn't sell as much as he flaunted.
We're sure this conversation will continue to evolve, as Ross is probably prepping his response as of writing this article. Elsewhere, Fif will have many more opportunities to double down as Street Fighter stays in theaters, whether in successful or underwhelming ways he can spin in his advantage.
Rick Ross & 50 Cent Beef
Most recently, 50 Cent revealed his real thoughts on Rick Ross, characterizing a long-running feud as mostly comedy to him. "I tell you, the most difficult beef to have… It's when the person you're beefing with is law enforcement," he shared on The Crew Has It. "You can't do much. They are sworn in under oath... When it [gets] hot, they're just going to tell, bro. Trust me on that one, man."
Elsewhere, Rick Ross has more pressing matters to deal with, as he faces domestic violence allegations. After his ex girlfriend Jazzma Kendrick accused him of abuse, authorities in Miami arrested him on battery charges. It's still not explicitly clear if these two situations connect.
50 Cent also has his own controversies, including a recent flare-up with Power creator Courtney Kemp and multiple narratives around his Diddy docuseries. But no matter what both rappers are going through, they will be first in line to try to get the last laugh.
