What sounded like a proud father moment has turned into a much more complicated family dispute. Days after Chingy praised his youngest son, actor Isaiah Russell-Bailey, during an appearance on The Jason Lee Show, the 19-year-old says the rapper’s public description of their relationship does not match his own experience.
According to TheGrio, Russell-Bailey addressed the situation Thursday (Sept. 10) night after initially staying quiet. “What my biological father shared is not an accurate representation of our relationship,” he wrote, adding that he had taken several days before responding so he could be clear about what he wanted to say.
The conversation began when Chingy told Jason Lee that he has four children and identified Russell-Bailey as his youngest son. “Actually, my youngest son, Isaiah, is a big actor out here in California,” he said, pointing to his work with Disney and other projects. Russell-Bailey has appeared in Family Reunion, Raven’s Home, S.W.A.T., and films including We Can Be Heroes and Crater.
Russell-Bailey responded indirectly at first, posting a tribute to his mother, Brittany Perry-Russell. “Everything I am, I owe to the woman who has always been there,” he wrote. He also liked comments questioning Chingy’s involvement in his upbringing and career.

Isaiah Russell-Bailey Says Chingy Was Absent During His Childhood
As speculation grew, Chingy defended himself. He told Hollywood Unlocked that Russell-Bailey knows the relationship they have and argued that not everything a father does for his child is shared online. Chingy also said he wanted his son to build a career separate from his own name and maintained that he had offered support when needed.
Russell-Bailey disputed that account directly. He described “years of absence and neglect” and said public statements about love or support do not erase his memories of who was present while he was growing up. He also rejected suggestions that his mother had manipulated him into feeling negatively toward Chingy.
“A parent doesn’t have to turn a child against someone who was already absent,” he wrote. “My feelings are my own, and they come from my own experiences.”

The actor was particularly protective of his mother’s role in his career. Russell-Bailey said he and Perry-Russell made sacrifices together while pursuing acting and objected to any version of the story that gave someone else credit for work he says they handled without that person’s involvement.
He also made clear that he does not intend to turn the disagreement into an extended public fight. Russell-Bailey said he would not reveal private family details simply to win an argument online, but he would not allow anyone to speak for him or use his name to create what he called “a false picture of a nonexistent relationship for clout.”
“I’ve said what I needed to say, and I won’t be speaking on this again,” he concluded. Chingy had not publicly responded to Russell-Bailey’s latest statement.
