The Lil Durk trial, in which he faces murder-for-hire-related charges, has been captivating hip-hop and beyond for a few weeks, and it's about to wrap up. As of writing this article (the morning of Friday, September 11), jurors still haven't finished their deliberation process, meaning they still haven't decided on a verdict. But The Voice's defense lawyer Drew Findling is confident the jury will take their side.
Via Twitter, journalist Michael Blackshire caught a video of the defense attorney speaking to a crowd outside the Los Angeles courthouse after jurors wrapped up their second day of deliberations yesterday (Thursday, September 10). "The Voice is innocent," he told the crowd before walking away.
Drew Findling has spoken out about the Lil Durk case before, sitting down for a conversation with DJ Vlad on VladTV over a year ago. These moves have led to criticism, though. Trenches News, in a conversation with DJ Akademiks, blasted Findling for speaking about the case beforehand and supposedly revealing the defense strategy to prosecutors as a result of his media appearance.
While this is a speculative interpretation, it represents the media controversies the Durk trial has brought about. Regardless of these debates, the Chicago rapper's defense team has been steadfast in their support and arguments.

Beyond Drew Findling, Durk also has Marissa Goldberg, Christy O'Connor, and Brian Steel on his legal defense team. Hip-hop fans will likely recognize Steel for his high-profile defense of Young Thug during the YSL RICO trial. Findling has also worked with various hip-hop stars like Cardi B, the Migos, Gucci Mane, and more.
Throughout Lil Durk's trial process, the defense has painted him as an uninvolved individual in the fatal 2022 Los Angeles shooting of Lul Pab, which was allegedly intended as a hit on Quando Rondo. Defense attorneys questioned witnesses for the prosecution who alleged Durk orchestrated the whole thing.
On the other hand, prosecutors aim to show his alleged approval and compensation regarding the hit, via witnesses and evidence. While Durk's team is confident, only the jury stands in his way now, and all must wait for their verdict.
