Drake dissed Jay-Z on ICEMAN, Hov responded in his Roots Picnic freestyle, and now fans are waiting to see if this will devolve into a full-on rap battle. The Joe Budden Podcast recently debated about this topic once more, and Budden doubled down on his desire for Drizzy to diss Jay outright soon.
More specifically, the pod discussed the Toronto superstar's "FOMO" (Fear Of Missing Out) teases. While fans still don't know if this will actually be a project or something else entirely, the JBP is excited to see what's in store.
Joe said he loves the title and approach, previewing "total domination time" and some "heat" on there. While Parks argued he's tired of battle bars, Budden and others expressed more excitement about a Hov battle rather than a Kendrick Lamar re-do. "Ruin his day. Hov do look like he out there having too smooth of a day," he added, as caught by CY Chels on Twitter.
Marc Lamont Hill doesn't see it happening, but the others seemed conducive to the idea. Ice questioned if the timing of the "FOMO" announcement had anything to do with Jay-Z's recent moves, which the podcast denied.
"I don't care what he talking about on that album," Joe Budden added. "We looking for Hov shots."

"If Drake learned from that last battle and can execute better and be more prepared, Drake can win this," Ice posited. Marc Lamont Hill disagreed, whereas Ish questioned what "winning" even means in this context. Mona said the "people" decide a victor, and Hill and others brought up how both artists will probably have big advocate groups. "I don't see Drake getting 'smoked' no more," Marc argued, denying the idea of a blow-out.
Also, Ice argued Drizzy is the one between the two who could drop a "Not Like Us"-style nail in the coffin. He also theorized on a potential angle for the 6ix God about Hov not being as connected to his communities as he claims. But Ish argued The Boy might come off as a hypocrite with that argument, while Ice and Mona disagreed.
At the end of the day, maybe "FOMO" isn't even new music. But the hype is certainly there.
