Durk's father speaks out before the trial begins.

It’s been nearly two years since the feds picked up Lil Durk, and finally, he will face trial. With today marking the beginning of jury selection, the rapper and his co-defendants will face the court over murder-for-hire allegations. Over the past few weeks, reports of what type of evidence will be permitted in court have surfaced, from lyrics and songs to social media posts, interviews, and text messages.

Despite this, Durk and his team have expressed confidence in the defense and their ability to ensure his freedom. Ahead of the trial, his father, Dontay Banks, shared a message on social media asking fans and friends to keep them in their prayers.

“Tomorrow is that day we all been looking for, so Alhamdulillah, man, continue to keep us in prayer. Continue to shower your love and your support on us,” he said. “We ask everyone to continue to be there for us. This is gonna be a 3-4 week trial, Alhamdulillah, and don’t let a day go past that you don’t make Dua for us, that you don’t pray for us, and we will be victorious in the end. Inshallah.”

Lil Durk’s Murder-For-Hire Trial Begins Today

Lil Durk currently faces charges related to murder-for-hire including conspiracy, murder-for-hire resulting in death, and firearms offenses. The charges stem from the alleged targeted shooting of Quando Rondo in California which left his cousin, Lul Pab, dead. The evidence in the case, however, includes a lot of media involving Durk. In one text message, Durk allegedly rejected a peace offering. In another, he reportedly stated that he had the location on Quando Rondo just weeks after King Von’s death.

We will keep you posted on any further updates in Lil Durk’s case. Check out Dontay Banks’ post above.
