Ed Sheeran takes over Drake's two-year throne.

2016 is almost over, so before the new year rolls out Spotify has revealed some interesting names detailing who took over the music streaming platform for most streamed, most played and top breakout artist in a top five format.

The "Galway Girl" singer has taken Drakes's spot as the most streamed artist of 2017. Drizzy held the title for two years in a row prior. Ed's “Shape of You” reached 6.3 billion streams and 1.4 billion plays while his album Divide has received 3.1 billion streams.

“Ed Sheeran absolutely dominated this year with the release of his record-breaking album, Divide,” Spotify Chief Content Officer Stefan Blom says, via Fortune. “There is no doubt that 2017 was The Year of Ed Sheeran, and we are thrilled that so many millions of music fans have discovered, listened to, and shared his music on Spotify. Congratulations to Ed on an amazing achievement.”

Rihanna takes the top tier as the most streamed female artist, with Taylor Swift coming in second while Camila Cabello is the number one breakout artist of the year. Her "Havanna" collab with Young Thug without a doubt helped her ranking.
