Yo Gotti has been working very hard thus far in 2017 and the fruits of that labor are starting to pile up. After receiving the key to the city of Memphis earlier this year, coupled with the release of an entire mixtape collaboration with Mike Will Made-It titled Gotti Made-It, the rapper's list of accomplishments is growing seemingly by the day. As of Monday (August 28th), he has a new reason to celebrate: his hit single "Rake It Up," which features the ever-present Nicki Minaj, has become Gotti's first Top Ten entry on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

According to Billboard, "Rake It Up" went all the way from No. 24 up to No. 10 in one week, thanks in large part to the twerk-friendly music video that was recently released. Minaj, never known for her shyness in front of the camera, twerks in multiple different locations, most memorably while holding a pink colored rake, while also finding time to race against Blac Chyna in a pink Lamborghini, presumably for pretty high stakes. I mean, she definitely keeps herself busy in the seductive visual for the song.

It feels like Yo Gotti has been on the come-up for some time and is only recently getting the appreciation he deserves. Besides "Rake It Up," Gotti also brought together hip-hop luminaries Chris Brown, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and Kodak Black for the music video treatment of their song "Pills & Automobiles." With some excellently choreographed dance sequences, the video contains some sun-soaked visuals of partying and getting wet at a water park. Also, what's the deal with people wearing socks while they're dancing in the water? Doesn't that make things super uncomfortable when it's hot out and you're dancing around in wet socks and sneakers? Maybe it's just me, but I don't see that as an appealing creative choice.

The Top Ten entry for "Rake It Up" also represents a record-setting moment for Nicki Minaj, who secured her 14th song to crack that upper tier of the Hot 100. That's now the most Top Tens of any female rapper in history. Big up to both her and Gotti!
