A concert featuring two of R&B's biggest stars should have given Atlanta plenty to celebrate, especially with five sold-out or nearly sold-out stadium dates on the calendar. Instead, Chris Brown and Usher's opening night left concertgoers questioning what happened behind the scenes. Now, reports of a backstage disagreement have entered the conversation, and Brown appears tired of the speculation.
"Internet [cap]. Don't fall for it," Brown wrote on his Instagram Story Friday (Nov. 6), according to Complex. His brief message arrived amid complaints about Thursday's performance at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which reportedly began more than two hours after its advertised start time. Concertgoers complained about shortened performances, while Brown and Usher reportedly never shared the stage despite their co-headlining arrangement. Their tour typically features separate sets alongside joint performances, making the absence particularly noticeable.
According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, DJ Fresh entertained the audience for an extended period before the singers took the stage. The publication's review also criticized the sound quality and described portions of the concert as rushed. Usher's representatives reportedly couldn't explain the delay when contacted during the show.

Chris Brown And Usher Reportedly Disagreed Over Atlanta Concert Delay
The confusion took another turn when TMZ reported that Brown and Usher had gotten into a verbal argument backstage. Sources claimed heavy traffic around the stadium left many fans arriving late, prompting a disagreement over whether to delay the concert. The outlet also cited a source who described the singers as highly competitive throughout their joint tour, suggesting their differences extended beyond Thursday's scheduling problems. However, neither artist has publicly confirmed an argument.
Moreover, some fans also questioned Usher's decision to tell the audience, "Atlanta, welcome to my show," during his opening remarks. The controversy comes amid a major achievement for both entertainers. Their five-show engagement at Mercedes-Benz Stadium sets a venue record for the most performances by one tour during a single stop, surpassing Beyoncé's four-night Cowboy Carter run in 2025.
Brown and Usher still have four Atlanta performances scheduled for Nov. 6, 8, 10 and 11. With another show taking place Friday night, they'll have an immediate opportunity to deliver the joint performances missing from Thursday's concert. Whether either singer offers a fuller explanation remains uncertain, but the next audience will undoubtedly be paying close attention to how they share the stage.
