Latto was determined to deliver her baby on schedule, and she believes an extra-spicy seafood boil helped make it happen.

With her due date just a day away and no sign of labor, Latto decided to see if dinner could hurry things along. Her solution was something with plenty of heat, and according to the rapper, it worked a little faster than she expected. Less than an hour after finishing her meal, her water broke.

During Thursday's (Oct. 29) episode of Hot Ones, Latto shared the story while discussing her favorite seafood boil order with host Sean Evans. She prefers what she calls the "Juicy Special," a combination of lemon pepper, Cajun, and hot seasoning. That conversation prompted her to reveal something she hadn't previously discussed publicly. "It was a seafood boil that put me into labor," she said.

"So it was the night before my due date, and I was showing no signs of labor," Latto explained. "And I was like, 'No, I really wanna have my baby tomorrow.'" Determined to meet her daughter on schedule, she ordered her meal to kick things into gear, hoping it would help. "I kid you not, less than an hour later, I felt some liquid trickling down," she recalled. As a first-time mother, she wasn't immediately sure what was happening, but quickly realized her water had broken. Whether the meal actually triggered labor is another question, although Latto was convinced. "So shoutout to seafood boils," she joked.

Latto Opens Up About Her First Pregnancy

The Atlanta rapper welcomed her first child with 21 Savage in May, shortly before releasing her fourth studio album, Big Mama. Interestingly, the seafood boil was something of a departure from her pregnancy cravings. Although she typically enjoys spicy food, she told Evans that being pregnant gave her a serious sweet tooth. "I had sweet cravings real bad," she explained, admitting that she never quite returned to her old tolerance for heat.

Pregnancy also made recording Big Mama a more physically demanding experience. During the Hot Ones, Latto recalled struggling to catch her breath after simply walking from the studio's control room into the recording booth. She frequently needed breaks before starting a take, along with plenty of trips to the bathroom. Despite those challenges, she completed the project while preparing for motherhood. The album arrived May 29, giving fans their first full-length release from Latto since becoming a mother.
