"Law & Order" is known to bring on celebrity guests from time to time, and Joe Budden's acting gig on the show took many by surprise.

Joe Budden has made a name for himself as a rapper, podcaster, and media titan, but he might just add actor to that list as well. He recently made an appearance on the latest episode of Law & Order, and reactions on social media are as varied as they are comical.

On the crime show, Budden played a rapper who knew the episode's victim from the local art scene and received a visit from detectives. As such, he joins the long list of rappers who have been on Law & Order and its spin-offs before, including Ice-T (a main cast member on SVU), Big Boi, Ludacris, Method Man, 2 Chainz, Snoop Dogg, and many more.

Of course, a lot of folks find special guest appearances like this funny no matter what the actual acting and script looks like. Furthermore, there were a lot of jokes on the timeline about Joe's performance, his involvement in the show, and what future episodes of his self-titled podcast will hold regarding discussion about this cameo.

Joe Budden's been on reality television before, but nothing else in the way of a straight-up acting gig. This is his scripted primetime acting debut following his participation in the reality TV shows Love & Hip Hop and Couples Therapy.

However, those who have been following recent moves know that Joe Budden's Law & Order slot is unsurprising. That's because he has a true crime podcast with series creator Dick Wolf called Crime In America. It didn't get the best reception upon impact, which Budden appreciated as constructive criticism and promised things would pick back up.

Maybe we'll see him in other acting roles in the future or this is a one-and-done. Either way, for someone whose media empire continues to grow, there could be a lot of other surprises in store for Joe and his fans.

Fan Reactions

Elsewhere, Joe Budden's no less in-tune with hip-hop happenings, as he and his JBP cohosts continue to discuss what's going on in the rap world and beyond in the music industry. Their next episode, though, might need to take a few minutes to host an impromptu feedback session for his acting on Law & Order.
