Joe Budden and his girlfriend Shadée Monique started dating in the summer of 2019, and have enjoyed a wonderful relationship since then. They have a joint podcast called Pod Wives about love and relationships, on which they've discussed wedding plans from time to time. Now, those plans have manifested into reality, and a baby girl is part of them too.
Budden proposed to Monique last night (Saturday, August 29) at what's presumably an early birthday celebration for the rapper and podcaster (he turns 46 on Monday, August 31). Via Twitter, JBTV Community caught a clip of the Houston businesswoman announcing her pregnancy just moments before Joe got on one knee.
"We have a little surprise," she remarked. "Joe's going to be a girl dad." Cheers erupted, but even louder ones followed next.
THE GOOD KID on Twitter put up the clip of Budden putting a gorgeous ring on Monique's hand. "We doing it or what?" he asked. "Of course we are!" she responded gleefully.
Many congratulations are in order for the happy couple. We wish them all the best on this exciting new life journey.
Joe Budden's Proposal
Joe Budden and Shadée Monique's relationship dynamic has often popped up on his self-titled podcast, albeit in occasionally questionable ways. When cohost Emanny allegedly insinuated Budden has been unfaithful during an interview (which Emanny denied insinuating in the first place), Monique called him out for it on air. The situation didn't devolve into anything conflictive, though, but it did lead to a lot of divisive social media reactions concerning relationship talk on the pod.
It's sadly par the course for high-profile and public celebrity relationships. But despite whatever scrutiny there may be, it's clear they are very happy with each other and supportive of their goals. We'll probably hear a lot more about this on a future Pod Wives episode.
Elsewhere, Joe Budden is as active as ever when it comes to weighing in on hip-hop's latest debates and developments. Some of these discussions focus more on hip-hop media itself, such as his recent questions about Elliott Wilson working with DJ Vlad. Now, Joe obviously has more important things on his mind.
