Being part of the Roc Nation family doesn't guarantee an invitation, and John Legend seems perfectly comfortable with that.

Sharing the stage with Jay-Z at SoFi Stadium was a memorable experience for John Legend, but another invitation for the Super Bowl in February is a different story. The singer is already part of Hov's Roc Nation family, and their recent performance together has made him an obvious candidate for a halftime appearance. Still, Legend isn't assuming he'll be included in the festivities.

During a conversation with radio personality Fadam Got Da Juice, Legend revealed that Jay hasn't approached him about participating in the 2027 Super Bowl Halftime Show. As theJasmineBRAND reported, the singer acknowledged his close professional connection to the rapper, telling the interviewer, "I'm part of the family."

However, Legend made it clear that he wouldn't take offense if Jay decided to perform without bringing anyone else onstage. He considers the Brooklyn legend one of Hip Hop's greatest artists and believes his catalog is strong enough to carry the entire production. "I wouldn't be mad if he said 'I'm not bringing no guest out,'" Legend explained.

John Legend Recently Joined Jay-Z At SoFi Stadium

Another collaboration isn't particularly far-fetched. Legend signed with Roc Nation for management earlier this year after nearly two decades working with Ty Stiklorius. He has also maintained a musical relationship with Jay for years, including their work on DJ Khaled's "God Did." Then, they reunited on Oct. 23 during Jay's anniversary concert at SoFi Stadium. Legend joined Hov and Khaled to perform "God Did," one of several surprise appearances during the rapper's two-night Los Angeles engagement. The concerts celebrated the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt and the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint.

Only days later, the NFL confirmed that Jay would headline Super Bowl LXI at the same stadium on Feb. 14, 2027. Roc Nation has helped produce the halftime show since 2019, but this will be Jay's first time headlining.

His recent concerts have already shown how many longtime collaborators he could invite onto the Super Bowl stage. Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg joined him for the Oct. 24 finale, while Legend was among the guests the night before. It's still unknown whether Jay plans to recreate that star-studded atmosphere in February, as the NFL hasn't announced any additional performers.
