Yesterday, it was first reported by DJ Akademiks' social media account, Akademiks TV, that Future and Travis Scott attended Drake's 40th birthday party in New York City. There was a video attached to the report, with Future and Travis Scott turning up together. They did so alongside Loe Shimmy, all while previewing new music.
However, during his livestream last night, DJ Akademiks retracted his report. He claims that Travis Scott and Future never entered the building. Instead, they were with Loe Shimmy at another club after the fact. Although Ak does acknowledge that Travis Scott was at the door.
"I think Trav did show up to the door," Akademiks explained. "But I don't know if Future showed up. I don't know what happened with that. I don't know if he didn't get let in, I don't know if the cops was wilding but I know he left from there. And the people with him told all the b**ches outside Drake’s party, ‘Yo, come to this other spot. This is what we got going on.’ And they went over there to preview mad music. So this is not Drake’s birthday party."
DJ Akademiks With A Correction
In a separate clip, Akademiks corrects the record again, claiming that Adam22 saw Travis Scott inside of Drake's party. However, Akademiks maintains that he never actually saw him.
Akademiks then went on to apologize to all of the publications that went with the story, given that it was ultimately his error that led to all of this.
Either way, Drake's birthday party was, indeed, a big story throughout the weekend, as the famous rapper turns 40 years old in a year when he reestablished himself as rap's biggest player.
