A supposed recruitment pitch from Young Thug was apparently being read the wrong way. After Thug publicly floated the idea of signing Quavo, the Migos rapper clarified that he is not preparing to join YSL. Instead, the longtime collaborators are working together to find the next wave of artists.
A TMZ photographer caught Quavo at the airport and asked about Thug “putting the word out” that he wanted to sign him. “We good on the label, we got artists,” Quavo responded. “We looking for young artists. New gen. We came together to build the label. That’s what he talkin’ about.”
When the photographer asked if that meant the two rappers had combined forces, Quavo nodded before the question was finished. “Yes, we lookin’ for young talent,” he said, before shouting out several names apparently connected to the movement.

Atlanta's Top Artists Joining Forces
The explanation changes the context of Thug’s original post. Rather than one established Atlanta star recruiting another, Quavo describes the partnership as an effort to build something around younger talent. Thug has already been putting renewed attention on YSL’s next generation. Quavo’s comments suggest his involvement extends beyond simply collaborating with artists from the roster.
There is plenty of history behind the partnership. Quavo and Thug were part of the Atlanta generation that pushed Trap further into the mainstream during the 2010s. Their collaborations include “Guwop” and the Travis Scott-assisted “Pick Up the Phone.” The latter became one of the defining records of Thug’s JEFFERY era and remains among the biggest songs connecting the two artists.
That history was not lost on the photographer, who also noted that both men have now spent more than a decade in Hip Hop.
