Despite currently being behind bars, Meek Mill isn't letting his unfortunate prison sentence get in the way of his charitable holiday tradition.
As per an announcement on his Instagram page, Mill's annual turkey giveaway will still be happening in various parts of Philadelphia throughout the late morning and afternoon. Originally created by Meek and his team, "DreamChasers Thanksgiving" was conceived as a way for the rapper and his team to help out individuals and families in need by gifting them a delicious turkey for their respective holiday dinners. In all, 1,000 turkeys are normally given away.
The scrumptious birds will be handed out by several different organizations in Philly. The giveaway times and locations for the event, which has been going on since 2013, will unfold as follows:
11 a.m. at Unity in the Community
12 p.m. at Bible Way Baptist Church
2 p.m. at Martin Luther King Rec Center
3 p.m. at Strawberry Mansion Learning Center
Meek will obviously not be able to make an in-person appearance at the event but, as Rick Ross did with the rally in support of the Free Meek movement, a special guest could potentially come through and help lend their name to this important cause in the City of Brotherly Love. The fact that the event is still happening this year is just the latest in a string of positive updates in Meek's life, or certainly as positive as they could be under the circumstances.
First was the news late last week that the rapper had been granted a bail hearing, scheduled for November 27th. Unfortunately, that court appearance will take place in front of the same judge, Genece Brinkley, a woman who has been accused of not conducting herself lawfully while handling this case. The news has only gotten worse for the judge, after TMZ stated that her unfair actions may be rooted in her failed attempt at being an actress. That age-old snub by the entertainment industry is supposedly adding to the feelings behind her vendetta against Meek Mill.
