Right now we're anxiously awaiting the first week numbers for both Logic and T.I. with their respective albums Under Pressure and Paperwork. Earlier in the week we found out just how close this race will be-- the two are literally neck-in-neck, with both rappers receiving projections of between 65,000 to 70,000 copies. It'll definitely be interesting to see who tops who. Meanwhile, The Game and Hoodie Allen make Billboard 200 debuts. Here's another interesting case, as the young'n Hoodie almost sold as much as The Game, with his debut album People Keep Talking debuting at #8 and moving 30,000. Although The Game is independent now, it's still surprising that he only sold 33,000 copies of Year of the Wolf-- or perhaps not surprising given the album's quality? What do you think?
1) The Game— Year Of The Wolf: The Game’s not-so-compilation album made it’s Billboard 200 debut this week, at a respectable spot of #7. The rapper slid in to the top 10 by moving 33,000 copies of the album opening week. It’s not major label numbers, but then again, The Game is no longer signed to a major.
2) Hoodie Allen— People Keep Talking: Indie rapper of sorts Hoodie Allen takes us by surprise this week as he comes in at #8 with his new album People Keep Talking. The rapper sold almost as much as The Game opening week, with 30,000 units to his name.
3) Chris Brown— X: Chris Brown drops down a few spots this week, with X settling at #23. The album moved another 12,298 units this week, bringing up Breezy’s total number to 234,907.
4) Lecrae— Anomaly: Lecrae’s impressive album Anomaly has been charting for six weeks at a steady pace. This week the LP drops from #35 to #39, selling 8,674 units. The total sales are currently at 167,362.
5) Jeezy— Seen It All: Jeezy’s latest effort comes in at #42 this week, which is a drop from last week’s #36. The album sold 7,931 copies, while total sales are 219,273.
6) Childish Gambino— KAUAI EP: After a short rise up last week, Childish Gambino has fallen quite a bit this week. Coming in at #46, his KAUAI EP sold 7,088 units. His grand tally is 42,573.
7) Jhene Aiko— Souled Out: It may not be over for Jhene Aiko’s debut album just yet, as the singer rises up this week from #61 to #55. After charting for 6 weeks, she was able to move 5,704 more copies of the new album, with total sales of 121,012.
8) DJ Quik— The Midnight Life: DJ Quik dropped off his new album rather silently, and with that, he’s got a rather low Billboard 200 debut. The new album from the OG comes in at #63, moving 5,062 copies.
9) Tinashe— Aquarius: Tinashe’s debut made a steep drop from its debut spot at #17, down to #64. The album pushed another 4,950 copies out, which brings her total sales up 23,771. Hopefully this album will be more of a long-term performer.
10) Wiz Khalifa— Blacc Hollywood: The now purple-haired-Wiz Khalifa has been charting for 9 weeks, this week dropping just one spot to #65. The stoner/rapper sold 4,917 more copies. Total sales for Blacc Hollywood stand at 185,396.
In terms of singles this week, ILoveMakonnen's "Tuesday" remix with Drake continues to grow, jumping up 11 spots this week to #62 on the Hot 100. At #55 Trey Songz "Touchin, Lovin" resides with Nicki Minaj. Even higher up we find DJ Khaled's "Hold You Down" posse cut, up six spots to #53. T.I.'s single with Young Thug "About The Money" climbs up to #52 on the Hot 100 this week. Kendrick Lamar's lead single "i" is slowly climbing up the Hot 100 as well, coming in at #51 this week. Big Sean's "IDFWU" is topping these guys though, jumping up 20 spots to #48. Nicki Minaj's "Anaconda" single finally begins to fall, coming in at #11 after dropping 3 spots. Bobby Shmurda, on the other hand, continues to rise up, breaking in to the Hot 100 top 10 this week at #9. Finally, Jeremih's "Don't Tell 'Em" remains stagnant at #6.
