According to a new Report by The New York Times, the Trump administration's latest attempts are "the most drastic yet."

Since being appointed the American President, Donald Trump and his administration have been working towards changing the dynamics of contemporary American life. A recent report by The New York Times suggests that the Trump administration is seeking to alter the definition of the term gender, appealing for a narrower alternate that threatens to dismantle previous mandates protecting transgender individuals.

Reporters for the New York Times claim that the Trump administration would like to ensure that in the future, gender is defined as "a biological, immutable condition determined by genitalia at birth," and warns that the  move could be "the most drastic yet in a governmentwide effort to roll back recognition and protections of transgender people under federal civil rights law."

According to a Health and Human Services memo obtained by the publicationthe administration refers to the Title IX law under the 1972 Education Amendments Act to justify its attempts. The memo reads. "Sex means a person’s status as male or female based on immutable biological traits identifiable by or before birth." It goes on to state, "the sex listed on a person’s birth certificate, as originally issued, shall constitute definitive proof of a person’s sex unless rebutted by reliable genetic evidence."

If the Trump administration succeeds, progress made by the Obama administration allowing Americans the freedom to claim a fluid definition of their gender will inevitably be reversed.
