The Fugees are celebrating 30 years of The Score in 2026, and their celebrations for it aren't just Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean going on tour. They also launched "Fugees Hopeline" a hotline and interactive art project through which fans can hear new music from the group and share their thoughts on hope, life in the contemporary age, and much more.
Per a press release, the hopeline is a collaboration with the international public art platform CIRCA. It features narration from Ms. Hill's daughter, Selah Marley. Through this hotline, fans can hear recordings by the artists (including a new Fugees medley from Hill and Jean) and share their thoughts, thus making a collective portrait of life in 2026. Also, Lauryn Hill made three original collages for the project. They are now available as limited-edition prints with her and Wyclef's signatures.
The United States number for the hopeline is +1 (424) 7-FUGEES (7-384337). Callers in other countries can use WhatsApp to reach the line without international charges. After December 31, contributions from fans will close, and only the new medley will be part of the line.
Fugees Hopeline
"We’ve been able to connect with people from around the world through our music. We’ve shared stories from our lives, and visions for the future," Hill and Jean shared in a joint statement. "With FUGEES HOPELINE, we want to hear everyone else’s stories. Hope means something different to everyone. Sometimes it's finding beauty in a difficult moment, sometimes it's choosing kindness. Snd sometimes it's simply knowing that your voice matters. Our dream is that this project creates a space for people to share their wisdom, stories, connect and remind us all the power of our shared humanity."
Select recordings from the artists and fans alike will form part of a presentation at the Faena Forum in Miami Beach from December 4 to 5. It's a part of Ms. Hill's exhibition at Art Basel.
Despite conflict within the Fugees, their legacy lives on. Amid Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean's other big 2026 moves, this hopeline is one of the most ambitious and unique projects in their careers.
