Roger Goodell recently spoke with Ebro on Apple Music about the recent JAY-Z decision and how the NFL stands by it.

Lost in the JAY-Z Super Bowl Halftime Show news is how the NFL actually feels about all this. Given the league's relationship with Hov and Roc Nation, many assumed this was going to happen at some point. However, there have been debates about whether or not the NFL truly wanted it, or if they were simply compromising.

Well, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has officially put all of those conversations to rest. In a statement, Goodell revealed that when they first signed JAY-Z, the league had requested that he appear on the Halftime Show eventually.

"When we first reached an agreement with Roc Nation to produce the show, I had just one request: that Jay-Z take the stage himself one day, whenever the moment felt right to him," Goodell said to Variety. "I couldn't be more excited for fans around the world to experience the artistry, creativity, and cultural impact he will bring to the Super Bowl stage."

In another interview with Ebro on Apple Music, Goodell echoed these sentiments. He noted that with the 30th anniversary of Reasonable Doubt, JAY-Z decided that it was finally time to do it.

Roger Goodell Praises JAY-Z

Goodell would go on to call JAY-Z a genius in both an artistic sense and a business sense. Needless to say, all of these rumors and blind items about Goodell not being happy with the decision are completely bogus. The NFL stands behind Hov, and they are clearly excited for what he will bring to the stage.

If you are a JAY-Z fan, this Super Bowl Halftime Show will be a lot of fun. If you're a hater, let's be honest, you're probably going to watch anyway.
