JAY-Z is going to be the Super Bowl Halftime Show performer and after an announcement last night, he offered up a statement.

JAY-Z will perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show this year, and the NFL has made it official. After a week's worth of rumors, the NFL finally decided to make an announcement. This announcement came last night during Monday Night Football, and it featured the legendary rapper in an empty stadium surrounded by GOATs.

It was an anticlimactic announcement, especially given all the reporting from last week. Regardless, for those who love JAY-Z, it was fantastic news. As for his haters, well, they have already made their thoughts crystal clear.

To accompany this announcement, Hov put out a statement. It's a statement simply stating how this opportunity is an exciting one.

JAY-Z Speaks

“From Reasonable Doubt to standing on the Super Bowl Halftime stage, this has been a journey," Hov said. "Thirty years of music, work, and culture on the world’s biggest stage. This run continues to be a dream come true.”

Much of the controversy around the decision stems from the fact that JAY-Z is in charge of selecting the Halftime Show performances. He has overseen the epic West Coast rap show, the Rihanna halftime, the Usher set, and even The Weeknd's surreal performance from five years ago. These were all inspired choices, although fans find this latest decision to be the complete opposite.

Next year, the Super Bowl will be in Nashville, which suggests Country Music is going to be on the menu. If that is the case, then perhaps JAY-Z felt as though now was as good a time as ever to make something happen.

He is in the midst of a huge year, celebrating some of his most classic albums. It was either now or never, whether the detractors like it or not.
