JAY-Z has been officially announced as the Super Bowl Halftime Show on February 14 in Inglewood, California.

Last week, there were reports going around that JAY-Z would be the Super Bowl Halftime Show performer. These reports were met with criticism from casual fans who felt like the decision was self-serving. However, there was also this sense that the reports could be premature, and that the NFL has other plans.

Well, this evening, the NFL made it official. JAY-Z is, in fact, going to be the Super Bowl Halftime Show performer in 2027. The teams are undetermined, but we do know that it will all go down at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, on February 14.

The NFL accompanied its announcement with a teaser trailer on social media. It is a short video that depicts the legendary rapper sitting in empty stands, watching an empty field.

JAY-Z Gets The Big Show

The timing makes sense. We are currently in the midst of a Monday Night Football game, which is when many fans are watching. Furthermore, Hov just had two successful shows at SoFi Stadium over the weekend. These were the kinds of performances that prove a rapper like JAY-Z can, in fact, headline a Super Bowl Halftime Show.

There are still plenty of unknowns going into this show. For instance, we have no idea who the guests are going to be. Furthermore, the setlist is a complete mystery, and it will be until it inevitably gets leaked during the rehearsals.

Whatever the case may be, this is a polarizing choice, and fans are going to be upset no matter what the outcome is. Only time will tell whether or not Jay-Z can win them all over.
