Earlier this morning, Netflix officially announced a new documentary called Young Thug On Trial. This is going to be a 90-minute feature film on the YSL Rico Trial that went on for over a year. It ended with Thug negotiating a 15-year probation term, with no extra prison time.
Shianne Brown will be the director of the documentary. Meanwhile, Passion Docs will produce alongside executive producers Kari Lia and Hamish Fergusson.
This new documentary is set to showcase the dysfunction of the trial and the miscarriage of justice at certain points. It promises to be the most comprehensive documentation of exactly what was going on behind the scenes.
"Major feature documentary covering the extraordinary rise and trial of Jeffery Williams, aka Young Thug, and his band of brothers from the streets of Atlanta," the description reads. "Prosecutors set out to prove that he and his music label were actually a criminal street gang. High drama meets farce in this incredible story where a city and even rap itself are on trial."
