Judge Tinkler Mendez said, “I am just not up to speed enough to move forward with a change of plea.”

It looks like Antonio Brown’s attempt to land a plea deal won’t be as quick as he thought it would be, especially since he still has to rock an ankle monitor for the next few weeks, at least. According to Local 10 Miami and Complex, Brown’s change-of-plea hearing has been postponed after Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Marisa Tinkler Mendez said she needed more time. Judge Mendez said she wanted to further review the agreement that was ultimately negotiated between the defense and prosecution.

"I have not had sufficient time to review all of the materials to determine anything," Judge Tinkler Mendez said in court. “I am just not up to speed enough to move forward with a change of plea.”

The agreement proposed that Antonio Brown would plead no contest to aggravated assault with a firearm. In exchange, he would receive three years of probation and the possibility of early termination.

Antonio Brown Attempted Murder Charge

Brown was charged with attempted second-degree murder following an altercation in Miami. He was accused of firing a gun twice at Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, who alleged that the bullet grazed his neck. The incident could possibly lead Antonio Brown to a minimum of 20 years because a firearm was used.

Despite this, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu made it clear to the court that he has no desire to see Antonio Brown behind bars. "We want the best for Antonio," Nantambu said. "We want him to get the healing that he needs and, hopefully, he can seek that in the free world."

After his arrest, Antonio Brown was placed on house arrest conditions after posting $25K bond. The court also ordered him to wear an ankle monitor, which he will have to continue to use while the judge reviews the material surrounding his plea.
