DJ Akademiks is beefing with Meek Mill right now, and as a result, he is giving the scoop on the Drake and Meek Mill beef of 2015.

The Drake and Meek Mill beef took place a decade ago, although it still holds a dear place in the heart of hip-hop fans. It was a pivotal moment in Drake's career as it cemented him as a seasoned battler. Meanwhile, it hurt Meek for a while as he was unable to wash off the stench of his loss.

However, the two eventually returned with a collaboration on the song "Going Bad," and all was well in the world again. That said, Meek Mill is now in a beef with DJ Akademiks, who is willing to rehash topics from 10 years ago.

For instance, on his stream last night, Akademiks came out and explained the alleged reason behind the feud. As Ak insists, it all had to do with a comment Nicki Minaj made to Meek while out shopping.

In his story, he claims the two went up to the register at a designer fashion store, and when Meek said he didn't have the cash on hand to pay for Nicki, she told him he would never be Drake. When Nicki subsequently left the store by herself, Meek went off on X, leading to the infamous beef.

DJ Akademiks Explains Drake & Meek Mill Beef

It's a story that certainly serves Akademiks and his current interests. After all, he and Meek have been going back and forth all week since the Lil Durk trial.

As for the veracity of his story, that can only be confirmed by Nicki Minaj and Meek Mill. Given their history with Akademiks, we sincerely doubt this is going to happen anytime soon.

Regardless, it remains clear that the Drake and Meek Mill beef has had an enduring impact on hip-hop and the general discourse.
