Meek Mill is one of many hip-hop stars who had overjoyed reactions to the not guilty verdict of Lil Durk in his murder-for-hire case. But the day after the verdict broke, he took aim at DJ Akademiks, shifting gears from celebration to scrutiny of Akademiks' media coverage of the case.
On Twitter, Meek went on a wild rant and claimed Ak perpetuates hip-hop beefs, exploits successful Black men from the streets, and has spotlit 6ix9ine's trolling of Lil Durk in ways prejudicial to the Chicago MC. His comments also brought up the commentator's recent grooming scandal involving a young teenager on stream, Akademiks' references to Meek concerning Diddy and Big U's cases, and accused Ak of being a rapist.
Also, the Philly MC said he will start streaming to combat DJ Akademiks, even threatening to go to his house. There were many other insults that also lamented other hip-hop artists validating Akademiks, who has been covering the Lil Durk trial and speaking to people on both sides of the debate.
Meek Mill Blasts DJ Akademiks
DJ Akademiks' beef history with Meek Mill is extensive, so it's no surprise his response to all this on Twitter was quite dismissive. "I [used] to get excited when u went at me just knowing I’d have a good response … unfortunately my only response for you going forward is 'lol,'" he wrote. "Not too bad for a lil platform eh. Goodbye meek. We been thru this 100 times..when ur back to that level of relevancy we can reengage."
"Meek want this to be 2015 again. It will never be," Ak added. "I’m not going back n forth w him. History already is written. Today we focus on what is current and what’s next. Bless his heart. The tweet about him seething about ppl acknowledging my place in hip hop showed me I won."
Meek Mill's previous comments on the Lil Durk trial also proved to be controversial, with many folks disagreeing with his assessment of Durk as an "innocent kid." We will see if any other rappers get into big clashes with either media or themselves after this verdict's arrival.
