Another film is already on Kid Cudi’s calendar before his directorial debut has even reached audiences. The rapper and actor will direct and star in Wrong Number, a new horror thriller opposite Barbie Ferreira. According to Deadline, the project is currently filming in Los Angeles. Cudi, whose legal name is Scott Mescudi, also wrote the screenplay and will compose the score through his Mad Solar production company.
The film follows a successful self-help author whose new romance quickly turns dangerous. What begins as a promising relationship spirals into a nightmare involving a stalker and a murder accusation. Lucy Barrett, Dewayne Perkins, Clifton Powell, and Laura Harrier round out the cast.

Wrong Number will be Cudi’s second feature as a director. He completed production earlier this year on Doe, a drama he also wrote and stars in about a man experiencing homelessness and addiction over the course of 24 hours in Los Angeles. Deadline previously reported that Mark Webber, Leah McNamara, Brandon Scott and Brandon Perea co-star.
Cudi teased the follow-up in August without revealing the title at the time. He described the project as a horror thriller with comedy mixed in and said he planned to release both films in 2027. Acting has already become a steady second lane for Cudi, whose recent credits include Ti West’s X franchise and Knuckles. He also recently wrapped a lead role in the supernatural thriller Pathetic Fallacy alongside Jessica Rothe, Travis Fimmel and Natasha Lyonne.
Ferreira, best known for Euphoria and Jordan Peele’s Nope, joins Cudi as the film’s other lead. A release date for Wrong Number has not yet been announced, but Cudi has said he expects his second directorial effort to arrive in late summer 2027.
