This Air Jordan 5 "Georgetown" sample never made it past the sample stage, and now a rare look at it is finally surfacing online.

A rare look at the Air Jordan 5 OG "Georgetown Alternate" sample has surfaced online. This isn't a confirmed release. It's a sample pair that never made it to retail and may never in the future.

The build leans into a deep navy leather upper throughout. White mesh panels sit at the side, breaking up all that dark color. Icy blue detailing hits the outsole and translucent tongue.

Light blue Jumpman branding shows up on both the tongue and heel tab. That's a small but noticeable twist from the "Georgetown" colorway most fans already know. The retail version that released years back leaned closer to a navy and grey combination instead.

Deadstock laces still have the factory tips attached in these images. That usually signals this pair sat unworn since it was made. Samples like this rarely surface outside of private collections.

There's no word yet on how this specific pair ended up circulating. For now, it exists purely as a collector's dream rather than anything that we can actually get our hands on and cop.

The "Georgetown" nickname ties back to the Hoyas' navy and grey identity. Jordan Brand has used that color combination across several models over the years. Patrick Ewing's Georgetown roots and his rivalry with Jordan add extra weight to the connection.

An official Air Jordan 5 "Georgetown" already released through Jordan Brand's SE line. That version stuck closer to a straightforward navy and grey build. This alternate sample clearly explored a different direction before that final call got made.

Sample pairs like this offer a rare look into the design process. Brands test multiple versions before settling on what actually reaches shelves. Colorways like this "Alternate" show just how much can change along the way.

Whether this exact pair ever gets an official release remains unknown. That being said, the Air Jordan 4 "Georgetown" is set to return in February of 2027. So fans of the collegiate colorway will be able to go for at least one pair in the near future.
