Back in July of this year, Kid Cudi teased that he and Kanye West were working towards a reconciliation following years of back-and-forth tensions. Last night (Friday, September 4), that came to life when Cudi popped out at Ye's second Chicago homecoming concert to perform some of their most iconic and beloved collaborations. "Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1," "Ghost Town," and the Cudi solo track "Pursuit Of Happiness" made fans in the crowd overjoyed. But others like Peter Rosenberg were critical of the Cleveland artist forgiving the Yeezy mogul given not just their history, but also Kanye's bigotries.
Rosenberg did not explicitly name Cudi nor anyone else in his Twitter message yesterday, which criticized people forgiving him despite his antisemitism. "A lot of people I love are being openly lame about Kanye," he wrote. "I am not saying no one deserves forgiveness or empathy but this man sang Heil Hitler ONE YEAR AGO. Disappointed in a lot of people."
This morning (Saturday, September 5), the KIDS SEE GHOSTS creative responded to the radio host's remarks on Twitter. "I understand ur frustration Peter, I f**ks w u, but I dont really care if ur disappointed in me," he expressed. "That man is my brother. U dont have a relationship w him like I do. Damn near 2 decades of art and friendship. U not family. So I get it.

"Ive been around Ye, and I can honestly say talking to him now is how it use to be when I first signed to him, but even better," Cudi continued. "He was dealing w mental health struggles for years and now hes good. Everyone deserves some grace when they family. I was the hardest on him out of anybody. I held him accountable. He apologized and it was sincere. But like I said, u not family so I get it."
We will see if Kanye West himself speaks out about this at some point. Amid a lot of criticism but also camaraderie, this is the fine line Ye will continue to walk as long as folks remember both his astounding highs and his abysmal lows.
Elsewhere, Ye's other guests during these Chicago shows also saw other beef-squashing. Big Sean popped out to perform with Kanye on both nights, and there were reunions with a whole host of other legends, superstars, and formerly close collaborators.
