Social media is doing some detective work after a few bars from Lil Uzi Vert's song “Yoko” sparked speculation that they could be aimed at Lil Yachty. On the track, Uzi raps, “Count up a yacht, that’s a boatload,” before following it with the line, “Open my door, saw a boat froze.” The combination of “yacht,” “boat” and the reference to someone opening a door immediately reminded some listeners of an awkward encounter Yachty previously described between himself and Uzi.
During a 2025 livestream with PlaqueBoyMax, Yachty explained that he had unexpectedly crossed paths with Uzi after leaving the studio early one morning.
“I ran into Uzi, like, how long ago?” Yachty recalled at the time. He initially estimated it had been about a month before clarifying it was closer to two or three weeks. “I was leaving the studio, tired as hell at seven o’clock in the morning. I opened the door, and he was in the car.”
As Yachty explained it, he had accidentally opened Uzi’s car door thinking it was another vehicle. He apologized, while Uzi simply responded, “Wrong car.” Yachty then closed the door and went on his way.
Despite the slightly awkward interaction, Yachty used the story to shut down rumors that he and Uzi were actively beefing.
“I ain’t got no problem,” he said, before adding that he didn’t have an issue with Playboi Carti either. “We’re grown men. We’re just older now. We are just living our own lives, getting our own money.”
Fans Analyze Lil Yachty Potential Diss
Now, Uzi’s “open my door” lyric has fans wondering whether they remember that encounter a little differently.
There has been speculation surrounding Uzi and Yachty’s relationship for years. The two came up around the same time and were both members of XXL’s 2016 Freshman Class, but they’ve never released a collaboration together. Yachty previously described their relationship as more competitive than hostile, while both rappers have downplayed rumors of serious beef over the years.
Another time that social media assumed that Uzi was dissing Yachty was in 2024 when a snippet surfaced with lyrics that again mentioned the word "boat." "N***as, they put my swag in they notes / I was on a yacht in the goddamn snow / B***h, I'm Lil Uzi, I'm not Lil Boat."
However, Yachty did take the time to respond online to that one. "[You] guys are delusional," he posted. "[You] n***as go around living your life acting like [you] know us. S**t is od weird, y’all be grown men too... On here tryna piece s**t together, don’t be knowin' nothing. Get a job."
For now, Uzi hasn’t confirmed that the “Yoko” lyrics have anything to do with Yachty. Still, considering how closely the bars line up with Yachty’s story, fans certainly have plenty to debate.
