Being able to stay home through late-night feedings has changed what fatherhood looks like for 21 Savage. During an appearance on The Pete Davidson Show, the Atlanta rapper compared raising his newborn daughter with Latto to his experience becoming a father much earlier in life, admitting that his circumstances kept him from being as present with his three older children as he can be now. The episode featuring Savage premiered on Netflix Aug. 28.
“My first 3, I was younger, running around in the street. It was different,” Savage explained. “Now, I’m in the house, I’m with the baby all night, making her bottles, changing her diapers. It’s kinda like a different bond type sh*t.”
Savage was already raising sons Kamari and Ashaad and daughter Rhian before his Rap career reached its current level. He has spoken about fatherhood before, including the tension between providing his children with opportunities and actually having enough time to be with them. During a 2024 Club Shay Shay interview, he admitted that his career sometimes left him feeling as if he was falling short as a parent because work kept him away from home. His comments to Davidson suggest that his newest child has given him a chance to experience some of the daily routines that were harder to maintain when he was younger.

Years Of Keeping Their Romance Under Wraps
The newborn is Savage’s first child with Latto, who confirmed in May that she had given birth to a daughter after keeping much of the pregnancy private. Their relationship followed a similar pattern. Years of speculation preceded Latto publicly acknowledging their romance in 2025, and the pair have continued limiting how much of their family life appears online. Latto has said that keeping the relationship from becoming the center of her public identity was intentional, even after motherhood made some of that privacy harder to maintain.
Savage’s comments offer one of his more direct acknowledgments of how his life with Latto and their daughter differs from the period when he became a father to his older children. This time, he says, he has created a bond he did not experience in quite the same way before.
