Polo G has been trying his best to hunker down and focus on his art, letting off a steady stream of new singles this year like last week's "OMG." But he got pulled back on the gossip train this week after a chef who cooked for him accused him of being cheap.
"Come with me to cook for this b***h-a** n***a Polo G. Cheap-a** Chicago lame," Jamal Owens, who goes by Chef Mal, said in a video on Instagram with footage of their meetup. "Cooking for clients who don't respect your value but ask for the most is the absolute worst... These f**k n***as have made me want to quit. Dead-a** [will] look me in my eye and say, 'This is the best vegan food ever,' then try to short me or not tip... Don't let these lame-a** rappers play with you..."
The "Weight On My Shoulders" MC caught wind of this, and responded in various IG Stories caught by DJ Akademiks on the platform. He said this was clout-chasing, as their link-up apparently happened three months ago. "Yo business must not be payin well cuz you ain't runnin yo s**t right you a f***in goofey," Polo wrote.
He also shared alleged text messages with the chef about a payment dispute, with the chef claiming the rapper still owed him money while the Chicago spitter denied it. Polo also called the chef's food "nasty a** vegan food" and said he was only cooking for Polo, not for anyone else like the chef was insinuating.
There were also alleged IG DMs showing how the situation allegedly escalated into threats. We'll see if this just goes by without a hitch or if there's another chapter to the drama.
Polo G Responds To Chef
Elsewhere, Polo G has been staying low-key, which has also led to some confusion from fans. When he expressed disappointment in not receiving an invite to Streamer University, some fans felt like he could be doing more to put himself out there.
Polo G has talked about his struggles with fame, which can include viral flare-ups like this chef situation. But maybe he will bounce back in a big way soon.
