Drake is up for a VMA this year, and he will be facing stiff competition thanks to the likes of Megan Thee Stallion and Don Toliver.

Drake has been having himself an exceptional year thanks to the release of his albums ICEMAN, HABIBTI, and MAID OF HONOUR. ICEMAN has continued to dominate the charts, while songs like "Janice STFU" have spent some time at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

The Canadian megastar has the potential to dominate awards season. On September 27, the MTV VMAs will go down in Los Angeles, and unsurprisingly, Drake has gotten himself a nomination.

Drake will be one of the highlights of the Best Hip-Hop category, which is awarded to the artist with the best song. There are six nominees in total, and if you go by positioning on the Billboard charts, Drake has the best shot at winning. His competitors in the category are Don Toliver, Cardi B & Kehlani, Megan Thee Stallion, Travis Scott, and Tyler, The Creator

Drake Nominated for Best Hip-Hop

Best Hip-Hop Nominees:

  • E85 — Don Toliver
  • Safe — Cardi B ft. Kehlani
  • Janice STFU — Drake
  • LOVER GIRL — Megan Thee Stallion
  • DUMBO — Travis Scott
  • SUGAR ON MY TONGUE — Tyler, The Creator

It is not entirely clear what the criteria are to go out and snatch a win. However, what is clear is that "Janice STFU" is the biggest song of all these. "E85" has been another popular release from this year, while "SUGAR ON MY TONGUE" was a smash when it first dropped in 2025.

Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B are all stiff competition for Drake, as they align with the MTV VMAs brand more than any other artist here. As for Travis Scott's "DUMBO," this would be an absolute long shot.
