During his controversial Stake stream on Saturday night, Drake had a message for anyone who dared take shots at him. He revealed that the "pen isn't dry," meaning he is ready to take anyone on. It was a battle cry of sorts, although not everyone is convinced of the rapper's readiness.
For instance, on The Joe Budden Podcast, Joe Budden himself was not buying any of what Drake was selling. He felt as though the comments were completely out of place, especially when you consider what the artist has gone through as of late.
A loss to Kendrick Lamar and the ensuing lawsuit had Budden feeling some type of way. He believes these examples highlight that Drake is not ready to go against the best of the best.
“He lost his last 2 battles, he needs to shut up," Budden said. "He can talk that talk to Lil Yachty or drill rappers, but it’s over with MCs.”
Joe Budden Calls Out Drake
As the conversation continued, Budden asked his co-hosts who they think Drake is talking to. When they answered with Jay-Z, Budden was incredulous, stating that Drake has no business being in that conversation.
“He’s not that dumb to be talking to Jay-Z. Jay’s pen is the holy grail," Budden explained. It's an interesting point, but it has been a long time since Hov battled. It's difficult to make the same assumptions as Budden, even though it's tempting to do so.
At this point in time, it remains to be seen if a Drake and Jay-Z beef will take off this year. Although there are certainly signs pointing towards the potential for it to happen. Fans will just have to be patient, and take a wait-and-see approach.
